Making Jesus’ Last Commandment Our First Priority

Matthew 28:16-20 “16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Making disciples of all nations of the world is not only Jesus’ last commandment but also ought to be our first priority as His followers. Disciple-making begins with God working in the lives of people everywhere, giving us “divine appointments” so we can engage people with the good news that has the power to transform people, making them “new creatures” through the miraculous transformation of the “new birth”.

Once born into the family of God, the process of maturing begins and obedience to His commandments are a must to be able to become all that God wants us to become in Him. As a matter of fact, keeping His commandments is the proof of our love to Him. (John 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments). Loving God is demonstrated by obeying Him and serving people. Serve somebody today and make disciples everywhere you encounter people for the glory of God!
